A truly special party and dance on a unique location in the middle of Lake Balaton! With a DJ, lights, a boat buffet, a Balaton panorama, contemporary music, and retro hits. The boats return to their starting stations at the end of the program. Suitable for the whole family!
Boats also depart from the port of Révfülöp. During the cruise, our passengers can admire both Lake Balaton and the sights along the shore. The sunset tour takes place in the early evening, allowing us to enjoy the spectacular sunset while sailing on the lake. During the romantic 1-hour boat trip, the crew treats passengers with champagne and refreshments.
We won’t exaggerate by stating that starting from any settlement in the basin and walking a few kilometers can lead us to wonders. In Monoszló, there’s Hegyestű; Köveskál boasts small mountain lakes, while in Szentbékkálla, there’s the Black Mountain and Kőtenger; Mindszentkálla offers the Bald Mountain, Kővágóörs has the Kornyi Lake, and Salföld awaits explorers with the ruins of a monastery. The panoramic views from hilltops, the wildlife of lakes, and the climbable rocks of the stone sea provide immense experiences not only for children but also for adults.
Of course, we can hike and learn simultaneously, and this is where the so-called educational trails come into play. In the Káli Basin, there are six educational trails: Theodora Educational Trail, Theodora-Blue Stone Educational Trail, Path of Time, Boros Ádám Educational Trail, Csarabos Educational Trail, and Kopasz-hegy Educational Trail.
Each one is family-friendly and offers a comfortably walkable excursion.
The 8 km looping Theodora Educational Trail introduces the geological, hydrological, zoological, and botanical values of the inner Káli Basin. Starting from the Theodora Kereki spring, near the Kékkúti Mineral Water bottling plant, the trail follows the Sásdi Creek towards Kornyi Lake.
The Theodora-Blue Stone Educational Trail provides insights into the secrets of the Earth’s depths or, in other words, the geological treasures of the region. This 8 km trail, consisting of 15 stations, begins at Kereki-majornál. The Path of Time connects Theodora Educational Trail and Theodora-Blue Stone Educational Trail, uniquely presenting various stages of Earth’s history. This hiking section covers the exciting geological events of the Earth’s 4.6 billion-year history. Walking along the 1.1 km Path of Time, each step takes us 2 million years forward in time until we reach the present day.
Starting from the center of Mindszentkálla, the Kopasz-hegy Educational Trail begins as we walk out of the village through the narrow Rákóczi street next to the church. The 3 km long trail starts after the houses, offering a unique panoramic view, one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Balaton Uplands.
For years, Révfülöp has been hosting the prestigious event, the world’s longest carp-catching fishing competition. In 2023, 151 teams participated in the 186-hour-long competition, providing extraordinary excitement. The closing event, traditionally held at the competition’s headquarters in Révfülöp, marked another memorable occasion.
For years, it has enriched the summer program offerings in Révfülöp. The Révfülöp Blues Fest, which will take place for the 16th time in 2023, has earned a significant reputation among a few national Blues festivals. During the event, distinguished representatives of the blues scene perform concerts. Unlike the national trend, the concerts can be attended without an admission fee, as they are supported by the Municipality of Révfülöp and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program.
The live broadcasts of the popular TV show have been taking place in the traditional manner against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Balaton since 2011. The show originates from the charming shores of Révfülöp every day. The program is filmed on the pier, airing on weekday mornings from 9 AM and on weekends at the scheduled time of “Ma reggel” (This Morning) starting from 5:50 AM. The channel also broadcasts in the afternoon, providing updates on important events in the Balaton and regional areas. Viewers can expect to receive current news about significant happenings, making the show both informative and entertaining.
We have already provided a detailed account of Salföld Estate in one of our previous writings, but this place cannot be omitted from this compilation, as it is perhaps the most beloved location among families in the Káli Basin. Not only can you encounter native animals, Hungarian dog breeds, medicinal and useful plants, and agricultural tools in a genuine rural environment, but there are also opportunities for horseback riding and pony riding for children. You can take a leisurely carriage ride and enjoy horseback riding in the picturesque surroundings. Although the estate has a separate playground, the entire area is like a vast playground, where children can fully enjoy the opportunities provided by the estate. Not far from the estate, there is a Pauline monastery ruin that can be visited, and you can even travel there by horse-drawn carriage.
The so-called Kneipp trail or, more popularly known as a barefoot park, is becoming increasingly fashionable in Hungary as well. The essence of the trail is to walk barefoot on a designated path with various types of surfaces, allowing us to experience the feeling of walking on pebbles, mulch, sand, or perhaps tree logs. The Káli Basin cannot be left out of this “madness.” Anyone wishing to try barefoot walking here can find MezitKáli in Mindszentkálla, at the corner of Petőfi and Levendula streets.
Although officially not part of the Káli Basin, if you find yourself in the area on a Sunday, make sure not to miss the Lily Garden Market in Káptalantóti. For younger children, folk games and the petting zoo can be a delightful experience, while for the older ones, immersing themselves in the hustle and bustle of the market is a must, as the colors, scents, and flavors enchant them.
The Lily Garden Market in Káptalantóti started as a bio-market but has evolved into a tourist attraction and a kind of community meeting point. The market, open every Sunday from 7 AM, has gained a reputation beyond the country borders, with over 100 vendors offering their goods. The key to its success lies not only in the quality but also in the atmosphere, which has managed to remain familial, romantic, and authentically rural despite the market’s growth. The market square now functions as a melting pot, a communal meeting place for the countryside and the city, sellers and consumers, and even artists and their audience.
An unforgettable family experience or team-building experience on the waters of Lake Balaton. The highly popular Lidó Beach in Vonyarcvashegy offers a unique experience with a Wibit course, windsurfing school, water ski slope, and water stage. Open from June 18th to September, every day from 10 am to 6 pm.
